Queen Victoria School (QVS) head boy Pauliasi Sirivalu, 18, is enthusiastic about his future, saying he hopes to join the military when he finishes high school.

Pauliasi made the comment after the school’s cadet passing-out parade at Nukuvuto Ground at Matavatucou, Tailevu.

The youngest of five siblings, Pauliasi hails from Naisaumua Village, Vugalei, Tailevu, and is not new to his leadership role.

“I was brought up by my enthusiastic parents who instilled discipline in me; which has built me in to a leader,” he said.

“To lead a prominent all boys’ school does not come by easily and when I was chosen to be head boy of the school I knew responsibilities came with it.

“To be chosen to lead shows that the school trusts you and that is why I do my best in every little thing I do and am happy to have maintained a level of discipline to the school during our one-week cadet training,” he said.

Republic of Fiji Military Forces Warrant Officer Nemani Yavita said he first met Pauliasi in 2010.

“I trained him when he attended Tai District School where he was also the head boy and Commander at the school. I have always found Pauliasi to be disciplined and dedicated to his work,” Warrant Officer Yavita said.

“When I saw him here in Queen Victoria School this year, I had no doubt about him being headboy of the school, captain of the School’s Under-18 rugby team and now the parade commander for the cadet scheme,” he said.

“Pauliasi really maintained his discipline and I have seen a big change in his leadership qualities.”
